Rising Damp

Probably the most serious source of damp in buildings, caused by water rising, through capillary action, in the porous material of which most walls are constructed.

An efficient damp proof course (DPC) will prevent moisture from rising however, older houses may have been built without one or the existing DPC may have broken down.

Greenfield Property Services have a range of systems available to treat almost any type of wall construction.

Properties that have suffered from rising damp usually need a certain amount of specialist re-plastering, after the installation of a chemical damp proof course, to eliminate a secondary problem of moisture-attracting mineral salts (hygroscopic salts) which so often contaminate plaster.

Greenfield Property Services will conduct this re-plastering (as applicable) as part of the full damp proofing package.
